Not sure about your scoot, on mine, the cat is positioned a full 8" behind the right floorboard. Unless you ride with your right boot dragging the pavement, how the hell are you going to feel heat from the cat when the bike is moving ? The majority of heat a rider feels on their right thigh is from the rear cylinder jug and its exhaust pipe.

The CAT generates a lot of heat. Especially when stopped in traffic, and for the wife who's foot is directly above it. Removing the CAT by changing head pipes can only compliment the wet head cooling system that is in place. Cooler is cooler.

I don't have that issue. I ride solo. And, I steer clear of major metropolitan areas when traveling on the m c. I have had the displeasure of having to drive I-44 and OK 51 during rush hour on company business. I do not envy you having to do so on a regular basis.

Finally I too went with the V&H Monster Rounds and I'm completely satisfied with this setup. So, my advise is, do the Monster Rounds and ride it for a while. If you feel the need, then add the Power Duals. Ride safe and enjoy.....
Great advice. Thanks!

True duals are only slightly better than stock headers so you might as well just de-cat what you got and save a bundle.
They will never listen. All you have to do is call something true duals and they think it is great. It cost them power not gain it. bBut they are never ever going to listen.
I will stick with the 2-1-2 experience pays. I have a Fuel moto 2-1-2 ceramic coated header hanging on the wall for my 2016 RGU as soon as I decide on what pipes I want this time.

The wetheads do run a bit cooler than the air cooled onlys...but not that much, the higher compression and hotter cams almost totally nullify the extra cooling the wetheads have.

To the OP, that was good advice, ride it with your Monster Rounds for a while, then if the heat is bothersome, de-cat your headpipes or get a new set of headers. The Power Duals and the ceramic coated Fuel Moto 2-1-2's are excellent options.

There are a host of other things you can do to cool the engine down, none of them are spectacular in their heat reduction by themselves, but when all added together you can get a pretty good drop in temps.

I agree with the above post. The cats on my friends bikes ran hot and were removed. I put S&S power tune duals on my 08 to lower the ridiculous heat and it just plain worked.

IMO you don't need to change the headers few times I rode my 15 Limited in 110 to 115 degrees without whole lot discomfort from the bike then the sun and asphalt heat. Just open the lower vent keep your right foot away from the engine it will help and when it's hot hot regardless of what ever we do it will still be hot.

Stay away from the V&H, unless they've changed their designs, there are those that will tell you that their O2 sensor bungs do not meet industry norms and don't put the sensors far enough in to the exhaust gas flow. They are a pretty pipe...not a performance pipe. Regret that I chose them before I knew enough.
