I received a reply from V&H telling me that I can't do what I've already done...I did specifically ask if the factory map could be loaded into another slot.
"Thanks for supporting Vance and Hines. Unfortunately the stock settings, shown in the app under your 'Slot Zero', is a 'read only' map for preservation purposes. The app will not allow the user to adjust or edit that map."
I was able to copy the "read only" factory map over to an empty slot and I have applied the throttle response modifications to that map and plan to apply the speedo corrections soon. I assume I could autotune it also, the option is available. Also, when I moved the program to another slot the "read only" notification disappeared.
When You get Your new FP3,try flashing in the accessory position.Don't have to have lights burning.
The instructions call for the ignitio to be in the on position and the kill switch has to be in the on position with the motor off for the unit to flash. The accessory position will not work as it does not power up the FP3 unit.

Accessory DOES power up the FP3 unit but not the ECM on the bike. The reason you need to have ignition on is that the ECM needs to be powered up in order for it to accept a flash from the FP3. While in accessory mode, you can view map settings, sensor, etc. The FP3 needs to be powered up to provide that info.

Is it possible to copy the factory map over to another slot on the FP3 where it can be modified? I really like the V&H map for the stock intake and exhaust except that it knocks my mpg from around 45 down to 35. I don't mind that for commuting and short trips but I'll be reloading the factory map for long distance rides to improve my range between fill-ups. It would be great if I could apply the throttle response and speedometer corrections to the factory map.
I e-mailed V&H on this yesterday but haven't received an answer yet (I didn't expect to this soon). Perhaps one of you folks knows.....
To answer your question, you connect to the FP3 with your phone or what ever device you have. Then go to view edit maps, Look at your map list, my stock map is in slot "0".
Go to a empty slot an click on it ( touch it) then it will give you a list of maps and ask which map you want to move to the slot you selected. After this you can open and edit the stock map.
I have my stock map identified as Stage 1 in the #1 slot now.

I have always put my switch it the accessory position to program my FP3 with the kill switch off .
I've been trying to reach them since I got the 16 RGU to see if they can change the VIN on my FP3 from my 15 RGS to the new bike. No response at all. Zip, Nada, Nothing. Called and left a message, email, chat...........Thing is less then 8 months old and can't even get them to answer. Hell at this point a human telling me no would be something

FP3's get married to a VIN. Can't use on multiple bikes.
