Right Time For A Change
I have been riding Harley touring bikes since 2003 (a Road King Classic, an Ultra, two CVO ultras) and have logged approximately 120,000 miles. My most recent ride was a 2012 CVO Ultra, which was fantastic through its 36,000 miles. However, my wife has stopped riding, and I've felt that it was more machine than I needed. Last week I test rode a 2016 Road Glide Special, bought it and took it home on Saturday (Black Quartz). I have no idea how to post a photo, but trust me, it did happen. I am happy with my decision - I sit lower and am better planted at stops; having no weight on the handle bars is an added benefit. The handling is stunning. Mods so far: Vance and Hines True Duals; CVO slip-ons; SE Tuner; Stage 1 air cleaner; rear crash bars; low sissy bar and luggage rack. I'm waiting on lower fairings, which should arrive this week. I added a 12 inch HD Windsplitter windshield, and will probably add the wind deflectors as well. At 1000 miles the dealer will dyno the engine and fine tune it; that said, the power already is impressive. I did not make this decision in a vacuum - all of the posts and comments on the Forum were a great help. Thanks.
