The FP3 app reads oil temp, where is that coming from? Also, you can watch the oil pressure in the information screen, its gets lower the hotter the oil temp. I am sure there is a repeatable pattern there.
**UPDATE**
Went into demo mode on the app and its "engine temperature" not oil. Still, it is getting a reading from a sensor somewhere.
There is a temp sensor on the back of the front cylinder (behind horn).
Not to hijack this thread, but with all the talk about oil temps and the gauge. Has anyone with a Twin Cooled motor installed an oil cooler and measured the oil temps before and after? Saw the vid on the OilBud website, but its not a Twin Cooled motor.
I guess Harley was satisfied that the Twin Cooled bikes didn't need one with the liquid cooling, but I ride in SW Fl where its pretty warm, just thinking out loud I guess.
With the Rushmore's informant center I see no reason why they cant have all temps readings in it. Wouldn't it be nice to know what each cylinder exhaust temp is reading, rich/lean conditions. Tranny temp, might show unusual temps do to a bearing getting ready to blow?
I don't get to **** about it but it is/would be nice to know at times. The technology is there.
Buy a Scan Tool, or Software for your Lap Top and Plug it in to the Bike. You'll be able to read all of the System Sensor Inputs and the Computer Output Commands. On some High Value Scan Tools/Software Packages the flow of information can be bi-directional as well. Bring out your checkbook, the good ones are not cheap!

I am a technology kind of guy, but at some point it just isn't needed. Rather ride it than worry about every little metric and what it means like a hypochondriac.
FYI if it hasn't been mentioned the "i"nformation button on the right hand switch for those of us with the boom 6.5 includes an oil temp readout.

Thanks Just Me, I'm still looking for it on FleaBay. My Air cooled Rushmore will get one when I find it, even with all the comments about not needing one. Better to be safe and know what it is, than sorry that you didn't, after it overheats and quits on you.
Thankfully it'll still get me home, unlike those wet heads, that will leave you stranded!
