Default Rushmore jump starting... ?

Just being curios.

The HD battery tender comes with extra attachments, one being cables with hot and ground clips that plug into the bikes harness sans the tender.

Could you and would you jump another fellow on the road with them? And or could they jump you this way?

Cool beans. I'm going to carry them but it does make me a little nervous with all the electronics on this pig.

I'm surprised the tender wiring is heavy enough to carry the amp draw.

You can do it. It is a good Idea to let the battery charge up before starting it. yes we have done it heck we used to peace of scape wire to do it.

I may have been confusing in the OP, what I'm talking about is plugging into the harness with the accessory aligator clips on the end to jump with, either their bike or mine. Not sure how this goes.

The HD tender is compact enough I will probably bring it with me on long trips. Just wondering about using the wired accessory plugged into my bike and usng the clips to help start another bike.

The pig tail on your bike should be fused and that fuse will not carry a jump start either way.

A. I would be diligent an ensuring which wire is hot, and which is negative. If I'm not mistaken, the alligator clips are designed to go on YOUR battery, and thus plugged into the tender, which, if you plug them into the hard wired harness on your bike would, in effect, reverse polarity.

B. The inline fuse on the old bikes would not handle the amperage draw of a jump.

C. The new bikes harness does not hard wire directly to the battery, but rather through the canbus system. Admittedly, I do not know enough about it to say more than that.

Safetyman is right if you take the the Battery clips and plug them into the connector on the bike they will be reverse polarity.

If jumping from a 2014 and up you would be trying to Jump the bike through the 50 amp Main and 20 amp P&A fuse.

If you are just trying to charge another bike with a weak battery and realized the polarity it may work as long as the draw is less than 20A.
