Default Slipstream Vent Trim

Bought a vivid black vent trim for my 2015 amber whiskey street glide special. Planning on installing tomorrow. Parts guy said outer fairing has to come off. How difficult to remove? Don't have service manual for this bike yet. Have one for a 2012 touring bike but I figure the Rushmore bikes are different enough that my old manual will not work. Thanks for any replies!

Easy. 4 torx on inside of fairing and the 3 for the windshield. Be careful not to drop. Then 2 torx to get the vent off.

I will add, disconnect the headlight after the fairing bolts are removed and before you start walking away with the fairing in your hands. They may have the two torx on the 15s I don't recall having any on my 14, just adhesive and snap clips.

If I recall I had to use a razor knife to separate the adhesive from the vent to the fairing, then clean the crap out of it removing any left over adhesive so the new vent would have something to adhere too.

I would add, throw a heavy duty towel or blanket over your front fender to protect it just in case....

I would add go pick up the manual. If you have one for a different bike, you know how valuable they are.

You can sell your old one here... in fact, how much you want for it?

Takes longer to get the old glue off the fairing than the rest of the entire project. There are a few things I really dislike...Springs, shovels, and GLUE. LOL

well, everyone should know how to take the front of the fairing off and this is your chance.

towel on the fender and socks over the passing lights. The new Rushmores are easier than the older Batwing fairings.

Get an inexpensive service manual here. You can't beat it for $19. If you have an iPad, it works great with the Good Reader app.
