Might as well keep the thread alive .... I just did a "search" of the owners manual for my scooter (2009 FLHTCU ) and NO WHERE ( that I could find ) did it state the warranty would be affected by towing a trailer. Now maybe the newer owner manuals specifically site this subject but I did not find it in here. Maybe you can?

The only thing I can find for towing trailers ,page 7 Safety Warning " Do not pull a trailer with a motorcycle.Pulling a trailer can cause tire overload, damage, and failure, reduced breaking performance, and adversely affect stability and handleing ,which could result in death or serious injury.(00018c)"
Nothing in the warranty section.

WOW - that sort of language is a whole lot different from what others are saying - pulling a trailer voids the warranty.

Plus, as I mentioned earlier, it says do not pull a trailer - and this is completely different than "installing a hitch". I have to remember to look at my book when the bike comes out of storage.

You can to the harley website and download a pdf copy of your owners manual.

Page 246 of the touring models 2015 H-D owner's manual. Within the section related to exclusions. Paragraph 4 specifically states that the warranty will not apply to any motorcycle which has a trailer hitch. Nuff said. Have a happy new year.

Is it incumbent on you to prove you don't tow a trailer or on MOCO to prove that you do. My bet is - if you have something like this, there may be one heck of a disageeement.

Well... Riverside HD noted that my bike was "over weight" while it was in for front wheel bearings under warranty.

I asked "did you weigh it?" and they said no, "the tech can just tell"...

Needless to say, I still have a warranty and that note didnt end up in the ticket.

How in the Hell can your bike be overweight unless you are packing lead in the tourpak. You would have to have the bags filled pretty heavy to make your bike OW. I think the tech was smoking some good stuff.

The whole point is, the wording gives the mo co an out. Trailer or not. They only need prove that the vehicle in question has a trailer hitch installed and that there is a relationship between the hitch and the related issue for which the factory warranty is being invoked. From reading the portion relating to the instillation of competition parts, they can even deny a claim for that. Even though the parts were dealer installed and from the motor company. As such, they could if they wanted to deny a claim that is related to the installation of my SE mufflers and high flow even though my bike has the stage one download. Kind of a catch 22 situation. This is why I for one keep it to simple bolt on modifications and save all my take off parts. I've dealt with the MoCo since the early '60s, back to the days I worked at a local dealership doing set ups and simple oil changes after school to help pay for my flat track addiction. I trust them like I trust my ex wife. Not !

Easy ...... Have you ever seen some of the scoots that roll into Sturgis or Daytona ? The bike is hidden under camping equipment and luggage strapped to the handlebars/front fender, saddlebag lids, tour pack lid or sissy bar and, on the passenger pillion if being ridden solo. Worse, it's usually a ride with laced wheels. And to compound things, the wheels have never been trued since the bike left the factory. ymmv
