Fans? On a V-Twin? Does it really make sense to try and cool only one side of the jugs? And with hot air to boot. I would think that an oversize oil cooler would do more. Idunno, I'm just sayin' because I don't know. Just can't see where the juice is worth the squeeze. If things get that hot that the motor can't survive then neither can I so I'm looking for a bar.

You can't pump enough cold oil in the world through a Twin cam to actually cool it. You're talking about pumping 2-3 ounces of oil to the heads per minute. Not enough flow to "cool" anything but plenty for lubrication.
However, since the engine actually heats the oil, if you keep the heads cool (the major heat source) you can 1) keep your engine cooler, and 2) keep your oil cooler so it doesn't degrade faster.

That's what head fans are about, and I love my Twin-Cooling for the same reasons. Don't even need an oil cooler...

I don't wish to get into a lengthy diatribe here but if you do some googling on the topic of "Absolute vs Nominal" filter ratings you'll easily discover why virtually any permanent filter being offered today gives far better filtering, (commonly 35 microns), and usually better flow rates than any paper filter does.

It is a certainty that a 5 micron "nominal" rating claimed by paper filter makers is utter bullshit and nominal ratings are furthermore totally useless as a comparison tool. Nominal procedures are not standardized to provide comparative results.

From my research it is obvious that Kevin at DK Custom Products, a sponsor here, can supply both excellent permanent filters and full accurate information about them. My personal decision to go with a competing product was based solely on my willingness to spend more, chasing diminishing returns, for a marginally better rating.

Hope this helps .

Wards fan for me.

Dropped engine temp 30 degrees or so and sitting at lights or traffic is no longer a torture session for the bike.

Nice to see ET actually drop while sitting at a light!

I use Jason Ward's fans. They are small and keep the head temps at 239 F or under even in stop and go traffic. Why try to cool the oil after it's been heated. It makes more sense to try to cool whats heating the oil so you don't have to cool the oil.

The Forced Convection System fans do not cause the right leg to get hot at all.

Someone referenced Kevin at DK Customs. Kevin was running a set of Wards fans on his Trike last time I saw him. He also has one air deflector only on the trike.

Yes the Wards Parts Werks fans work! The fans do blow air completely through the head. Don't think so, bend down and look at just under the rocker cover on the head. There's an opening between the rocker shafts. Yes you may feel a small amount of warm/hot air on your leg when stopped that's easily resolved by moving your right leg further away from the bike. I have the Wards fans and won't run a non water head Harley without them. The croth cooler is also a product that works way better than you would think. I have a set on my bike and won't ride any HD without one.
