One thing no one has mentioned is them falling asleep on long rides. Until they are around 10 or 11 their attention span is short. Around the neighborhood for 10 minutes or so not a problem but take them on a half hour ride or longer then tend to fall asleep. No one knows you kids or grand-kids better than you do. You will know when the time is right.

Yeah, it's like that. Around about 19-21 or so most start to turn around, hopefully.

That's why no matter how nice a young woman appears, I don't even look at 'em until they're 27 or so; I raised one of those things, and don't want to ever have anything to do with 'em until they're all grown up. Brrrrr.

Here law is , they must sit on the seat and reach pegs or foot boards. At 7 years old all the children and grand children were riding with us. No law against adding blocks to the foot rest. We have one grandchild that can not walk , so she would not be left out we put a side car on the FB and she loves it.

Me and my brother rode around the farm and country roads when we could stand up and hang on. One of us sat behind Dad, one stood in front and could just see over the speedometer, the dog sat at our feet. Lambretta TV 175 ('65-67), I did take it to town when I was 16 for awhile(1975). Dad told me to come and get it about 1990, I kept putting it off and he junked it. Had it new since '58 in the crate.
He also sold a 63? FLH? HD because he couldn't start it (safely) for $50(1967)

My kid started riding with me at 4 years old. I put bike grips on the saddle bag guards for a foot rest. He would hold on to the side grab handles for his life. My only issue was making sure he would not fall asleep while out riding. I am pretty sure the parents at preschool thought I was an a**hole, but the kid loved it.

He is now 18 and loves to ride. Guess I did ok.

Both my Boy are in their 40s now, but I put each one on a mini at the age of 5 years old.
I never put them on my 1970 Honda CB750 until their feet reached the passenger foot pegs.
My sons grew up riding Dirt Bikes, the youngest sold his dirt bikes a few years ago. The
oldest son still rides dirt bikes, but sold his Road Glide Ultra to buy a new dirt bike a few
months ago. I sold a 2000 Honda XR600 in 04, got to old to ride the dirt like I use to.
I always tired to put safety first when street riding, but they could tear it up on the dirt bikes.

He's 28 now and still talks about those rides.
That's what I did too (age's 5 & 6). But this was back in the late 80's/early 90's. my guess is if I did this now, some wacko would turn me in to child services, thing's aren't the same as they used to be.

I rode my Grandson when he was three.
Sat right between his Gramma and Papaw.
He absolutely loved it as well as me...............
