Default Cruise not disengaging from the front brake

Got a weird one and doesn't make sense.
I installed new REAR pads on my '14 limited yesterday everything went as supposed to but went on a ride last night and had the Cruise Control set, went to kick it off with the front brake and it wouldn't disengage. Hit the rear brake pedal and it disengaged just fine. I squeezed the read calipers in just enough to get the new pads in and pushed slowly three times on the rear pedal without bottoming it out until I had a hard pedal. Coming home in the dark I could see that I didn't have brake lights when I used the front brake intermittently, sometimes it would work then it wouldn't.
What doesn't make sense to me these are two separate systems with two separate brake light switches. How could I have messed up the front switch without going near the front?

If I understand you correctly, there is a thread about the rear brake light not coming on, I had this problem also. Ended up taking the front right switch pack apart and stretching the spring inside the plunger that the caliper pushes against to make the light come on.

Thanks Bob what doesn't make sense is that the front brake worked fine both with the light and disengaging the Cruise until I put new pads in the rear. The rear pedal works the cruise and the light but the front doesn't and I never touched the front system.

YOU didn't goof anything up, but once again ... HD, parts made in china and assembled in the USA. Probably just a fluke ... I recall some guys having bad switches and your's just crapped out at the wrong time. Either try what Dynamite said or go to the dealer and see how much longer your new chinese switch holds up after they put it in.

BTW, I wouldn't worry about it not killing the c/c, BUT I would worry about not having your brake lights come on with the front brake. I always roll my throttle off when I want to kill it.

Default Brake work

Good morning from Mexaasas ! If you pushed back pistons in to brake caliper , could be the reason you now had problem . Anti- Lock Brakes are a different Crider. Open bleeder valve, and push back pistons. When applying brakes gently put brake down . But not all the way so it will not activate switch on anti-lock valve. Refill master cyl. Flushing brakes is a good idea also. But should done . With a service book. Fresh fluid makes brake work much better.

Default RH switch pack

If your bike is still under warranty, have your dealer check your RH switch pack. The one on my 2014 SGS went out. It was intermittent on disengaging the CC. No brake light either. May be coincidental timing with your rear brake change. Not sure on the pad push back if that affected anything.

Well I went out and took the switch pak off dinked around with the plunger for the front brake and it started working fine.
What I didn't mention in the first post is that I spent 20 years as a brake and front end Mechanic (on autos) so I am very familiar with the way a brake system works but this was a weird one because even though they are linked by the abs and linked brake system they are still two separate systems as far as the brake light switch is concerned and I never touched the front system plus I know and this goes for you guys that do your own brake work on your cars and trucks when you put new pads on DON"T ever bottom out the pedal when you pump it back up or you will activate the proportioning/ metering valve.
On a side note my CB radio hasn't been working worth a damn for a while now and the dealer has ordered the module and right switch pack (got the call last night the parts are in so I am taking it in to get it fixed today) so the brake light switch will be replaced anyway.
Thanks you guys for the responses, this is what makes this forum great. You can always count on the fact that if someone has had an issue there are a lot more that have had the same issue and the fix is just a matter of posting it here.
