If you have other documents on your flash drive it won't read the music I have found.

That's not been my experience. I have a 32GB thumbdrive, formatted NTFS that works fine, with other data on it. In fact, one thumbdrive I use is a bootable Windows 8 thumbdrive. Works fine.

NTFS is New Technology File System. Designed by Microsoft as the file system standard for its' Windows NT family. While it has some enhanced security features and ACL (access control lists), it is by no means "Windows files security".
