This can be made for $60, about 35 for the exact housing made by Watt($12.50 if you get one without a bypass), $20 for the refillable cartridge(including di resin). Refill resin should cost about $10. Should make about 150 gallons at least per refill, doubt I'll use more then 5 gallons per wash, so that's about .33 per wash for the di resin. I'll let you know how it works out. If I can wash and walk away I'll be riding a clean bike more often. My bike has always been dirty more often then clean.
Wow, total bummer, looks like they went away years ago! I just looked on my garage and I still have 6 left in the box. Before those were around we used to mix a bit of the "jet dry" dishwasher stuff in the soap dispenser nozzles things. That used to work great, not sure if it still does.

Yea and what i have read they are selling the starter filters for over $50 each! Too bad, looks like it worked great, everyone that used it loved it.
I don't wash my bike without waxing it so there is no issue with Dawn soap whatsoever. +1 on the leaf blower. My bike gets washed once or twice a riding season and i keep it nice and pretty with Lemon Pledge all summer long. I wipe the bugs off after ever ride with Pledge and a microfiber cloth. I actually ride my bike daily so its never spotless.

All ears here boss ....
hmmmm..... never thought of jet dry either....
If you want to see if you can "wash your bike and walk away"... go to your local coin op car wash & spray it down lightly, let it dry. They use the same de-ionized water you're seeking, I bet you will still have spots.
I use the Mr. Clean system, still get spots if I don't hit it with the leaf blower when I'm done. In fact I have to constantly spray the bike down lightly to keep it wet until I'm done washing.

For years I have been using a leaf blower to blow the water off of my bikes and it works fine honestly. I do dry off the tank and the top of the saddle bags and that takes all of 2 minutes to do. my leaf blower was like 30 bucks on sale some years ago.
I get a kick out all these fancy wash products. for YEARS on many bikes, cars boats etc. Dawn dish detergent with a mild degreaser in it, water, elbow grease, windex or chrome cleaner and my leaf blower. probably using everything that I am not supposed to use, but gets her clean with zero damage to the paint of windshield. oh I forgot the most important thing.... a roll of paper towels (dollar store brand)
Leave it to Harley people to make a simple thing like washing on a simple bike expensive and difficult.
I generally wash my bike twice a year. I wipe the seat off and go for a ride to dry it.
I HATE drying my bike, it actually deters me from washing it. I'm looking into building a deionizer for under a hundred bucks, but before I do id like to ask you guys if anyone has any experience with them. All it takes is a 10" water filter housing and a deionizer canister with ion resin. I'm posting this here because I trust some of the names here but if it needs to be moved I'm fine with that.
I used one to wash motorhome worked great in shade but direct sun still spotted not as bad but still spots
