Last Sunday (July 3) my wife and I rode our 15 SGS over the Beartooth Mountains to Cooke City to spend the night and then rode back home the next day for a quick get away trip. We encountered several thunderstorms with heavy rain and high winds along the way causing us to stop and wait several storms out but we finally made it into Cooke City just before dark. When we pulled into Cooke City I noticed a thumping noise accompanied by a chirping and sometimes squealing sound. It appeared to be coming from the primary or transmission area. Since it was getting dark and we were tired I decided I would take a look the next morning. So the following morning I put it in neutral and started the bike up only to have the thumping and squealing sound to be much worse than the night before. After crawling around the bike several times I could not pinpoint where the noise was coming from but again it did sound like it was coming from the primary or transmission.
We had a full day planned of riding into Yellowstone Park and then back through Sunlight Basin to home but with the noises coming from my bike we decided we had better just head back home. So we rode back over Beartooth Pass "babying" the bike the whole way. Monday was the 4th of July so I had to wait until Tuesday to call the Yellowstone Harley in Belgrade, Mt where I purchased the bike which is about 2 hours from where we live. On Thursday they drove over to Billings where we live, picked up the bike, and took it back to Belgrade, all at their expense. Friday I get a call from the service manager at Yellowstone Harley and they tell me that one of my rubber motor mounts had split and they would be installing new motor mounts under warranty. I hear a lot of stories about people having bad experiences with their dealerships and I wanted to say how I couldn't have had a better experience with Yellowstone Harley. All dealerships should treat their customers like this, we're customers for life!
I had a buddy of mine head over to Miles city Montana on his RGS and told me of the thunder storms he encountered.Said the cars just parked on the side of the road.
Anyways Lone wolf Harley in Spokane has always treated me fairly. They do a lot for there customers. There all very professional.Lots of people just hang out and have coffee. Its a great place to socialize.
Good to see some dealers still appreciate their customers. I did find a dealer that treats me like a customer rather than a dollar sign. I travel over 2 hours to get to them, rather than going to one of the many that are between 5-60 min away.
All American HD in Hughesville Maryland is a very good dealer near me. Always go out of their way to help . Service advisor named Sarah has always helped me. #1 service everytime.
