My first trip...
I rode from the airport to Jason’s house and picked him up, then it was off to Harley Davidson of Ft. Myers. It is a real nice shop, lots of t-shirts and fun things to spend money on. Since Matt wanted to “get to it”, we headed out. Both Matt and I told Jason to take it easy, since we are both new riders. Jason was riding a Peace Officer RK, and I was riding my Peace Officer EG. We headed towards Ft. Myers Beach, the traffic was heavy but not too bad, since we were taking our time. We rode down the beach until we came to the “Brick House”, it is a sports bar across the street form Hooters. The waitresses wear the same type of outfits as they do at Hooters. The servers at the Brick House have “We Don’t Give a Hoot” on the back of their shirts, kind of funny. We had lunch and then headed out again.
We drove down Ft. Myers Beach to Bonita Beach and then drove up Hwy 41 to the area of town I work in. We then drove up to North Cape Coral and road on some back roads with little to no traffic so that we could stretch out the V-twins. Jason pulled up next to me and said to let her go, he would stay with Matt, so I did. I kicked it up a bit but not too much because I am still in my break in period. We then went to Jason’s sister house to see the new edition to the family, she was a cute little girl baby girl. I was asked if I wanted to hold her. I declined, not real good with little babies, my son was 10.2 when he was born, so it wasn’t too bad with him. Plus if I break him, his mine. We stayed at the house and cooled off to some nice classes of cold ice tea and then headed out to meet the Defenders. The Defenders are a motorcycle club made up of cops, EMTs, and Fire fighters.
We were suppose to met up with everyone back at the Harley dealer and ride down to Naples to Pelican Larry’s. Apparently Thursday night is not a normal riding night for them because nobody showed up. No big deal we rode to Naples on our own. We got to Pelican Larry’s and found a spot to park the bikes. The place was packed, the guys really like the scenery and said that they had found a new place to hang out. The night we were there they had a DJ, can’t say much for the music but it was fun. At one point we struck up a conversation at the bar with a group of people next to us. They asked what we did, so I said we were fire fighters. (because everybody likes fire fighters, and not as many like cops) They started to ask were we worked. I said Ft. Myers. They said where I said near the college, again they asked where. Come to find out they were a group of fire fighters out for the night. I confessed and told them we were cops, we all had a good laugh and enjoyed each others company.
It was time to call it a day, Jason and Matt road back to Ft. Myers, I headed to my place in Naples. All in all it was a great day, I ended up putting almost 200 miles on my bike, almost doubling the miles I had on it when I started. I can’t wait to add more miles and do more trips.
