Just got back from there. 5000+ miles from VA - came back through MN, WI and Nothern MI (over the Mackinaw Bridge in a rainstorm with high winds). Roads in the Hills are awesome, many seemed recently paved (maybe last year?) except the highway to Nemo to Sturgis from Rapid - lotta tar snakes but very rideable. Roadwork is still ongoing on I90 around Murdo with the traffic load for the Rally, that could add a couple hours to your ride. H44 is an alt route, but gas stations are limited and high octane is hard to find. Still trying to decide if I'm heading back for the Rally.

Did you go across the bridge last Thursday? We took shelter under the bridge and waited it out before going across and up to Sault Ste. Marie.

Hah yeah some of those planned routes are nuts at least for me bc I'm new to the whole touring thing (previous but not done sport bike rider). Not new to HD though IF you consider my Buell. I'm assuming most hardcore HD guys are gonna despise the Buell comment...
