Default Well Nuts

Yesterday while changing my windshield I think I stripped the last well nut putting in the screw. I did exactly what I was supposed to do, finger tighten to avoid this but as luck would have it the last one only would go in about 3/4 of the way and stopped. Took it out and tried again. The same result. I have a 2015 RGS so the well nuts are in there permanently and am at a loss what I can do.
HELP!

Run a tap through it
BTW, The exposed end of the well nut should be slotted. That's for a blade screw driver in order to remove.replace a damaged well nut. At least the ones on my Ultra are!

I have found that I have to loosen all the outer fairing screws to relax the fit of the 3 windshield screws.

The slotted end goes in the hole to cut as it's threaded in. If you or someone else changed the nuts then they were put in wrong. If they're staying in, great. There was a good write up with pictures awhile back on this forum. I've had to replace 2 of mine.
