I have a 2104 Flhtk. Just replaced the thermostat And still have the code popping up. Fans are coming on with engine switch on , reverse throttle. Where is the ECT sensor located?
If I get this POS running again I will own a Rgu 2017
Harley trouble codes. Probably need to go to the dealer and have them reset something because your ECM is still reading "high temp" and doesn't know you replaced the thermostat.

I recently had this issue after draining the cooling system and refilling. I used Ford gold coolant that I already had, figuring that it is good quality coolant and at $22 gal it should be fine. But after having the issue again I used the Harley coolant with no more issues. The HD coolant may have an additive like Super Cool that you can get at most any parts store? But no more issues.
I had that code last week when my water pump died. The bike has been at the dealer for a week now. They were "hoping" to work on it today now that the new pump was in, but I never got a phone call that it's done.

That's what i was saying, my engine light, temp light came on, that's the code i read, it was water pump, after i changed some sensors
I have been intermittently getting a CEL and High temp light (ECT light) with a P1019 code. Weather here is very cool and I didn't ride with light and P1019 code more than 50 miles. Engine did not act hot but the dealership I called recommended I trailer my bike to a HD dealership.
According to HD dealer the way they effectively and efficiently approach trouble shooting/diagnosis of P1019 is by first replacing the ECT. The ECT list price is $25 and it takes an hour of labor. Going through all the "book" trouble shooting/diagnostic steps takes more than an hour of labor and the cost of a new ECT. Dealer didn't stock ECT and had to order which took a week. Dealer installed ECT and still had "issues" calling me and telling me cooling system pump motor had failed. My bike is 5 months out of original factory warranty and I sat down with the dealership service foreman and explained my confidence in the quality of HD had been compromised with a failed water pump @ 2.5 years under 15K miles. Dealer service department suggested I call HD customer service and voice complaint. I walked to my vehicle in the dealer's parking lot and called HD. Customer service gal listened to my story and gave me a reference number to take back into dealership service department. HD dealer called tech services with my reference number and explained I was currently-in person in their shop with a red face and very upset with HD factory. HD offered me a new water pump at no charge but I had to agree to pay 1 hour labor to R&R. I agreed.
BTW, water pump list price is $412.86. Water pump was in dealer's parts inventory. Dealer offered to absorb the cost of the ECT and the ECT install labor.
My opinion? Harley introduced "new technology" with water cooled heads on FLHTK and perhaps may have chosen an inferior water pump motor "supplier" (electric pump motor manufacturer). Maybe HD used an Off Shore or South of the border vender for the electric water pump?
I have yet to do my own testing to make sure issue has been corrected but dealer did a 14 mile rode test to help verify P1019 complaint is corrected.
Thanks HD Customer and Tech Services for doing the right thing. Thanks to the dealer for steering me in the right direction in getting factory help.
