Check out the road6 custom bars. I have 11" naked apes on mine and my buddy put the 13" apes on his. No problem with either fitting. Pretty quick and easy install. Great price as well.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm pretty set on the factory 47 signature bars in 12". Sounds like they will be an easy install. I already did the TBW bars on my LR-S, so it should be pretty quick and easy, apart from the fairing/console stuff. I have a service manual on order so it shouldnt be a problem.

Another question. I've always been a big fan of supertrapp pipes, not killer loud and really good performance. Fuelmoto has their E series which is a similar if not improved design, and I am thinking about going that way when I do my Stage 1. My question is they are standard 2:1 pipes, and I'm not sure how it will look w/o the second pipe under the left bag. Is it complete heresy to use a single 2:1 pipe? I can't see any drawback other then aesthetics, and even a weight savings (albeit insignificant for a 800+ lb bike!).

Is there any advantage to a 2:1:2 vs a traditional 2:1?

Sorry if these are silly questions, i'm new to the touring bike scene. Though I'm loving it. Did a quick 150 today and it went by like 50 on the dyna...

Here's my to do list so far (in order of priority)

Already have custom dynamics LED's on the way for the sigs (Amazon 2-day!)
Tallboy seat
Taller shield - probably a Clearview. Had good luck with them on my Dynas
Taller bars - probably Factory 47 12" - either poly or solid bushings, undecided.
Stage 1 - Already have a Ventilator I modded to vent externally and a power vision I need another license for. May go for the Fuelmoto deal which gives a new PV for $200 when you buy a pipe - same cost as a PV license...?
Ohlins shocks in the rear - S36E's cause I'm cheap
Ohlins cartridges in the front when I can sneak a grand past the OL

So, I'll see you all next year... :-/

I'll definitely be using poly bushings, but has anyone used the solid AL ones?

I was planning on using the Alloy Art Good n Tite solid bushings on this install. Reviews online look pretty good...

Honestly, you'll get more performance out of a good 2-1 like the D&D or Dragula. I was stuck on the asthetics of the dual exhaust for a while too, but once I decided to build a 124" for it, I realized I would be leaving a lot on the table if I went 2-1-2. You can get a 2-1 system, and buy the ghost pipe. You'll get all the power, and have the dual look. I opted to not buy the ghost pipe simply because I feel its a waste of $500. It doesn't look too bad once you get use to it. I am getting ready to put my Topshop stretched bags on, which will help the look. I got the right side only cut bags/fender.

If you want to see some pics, hit me up and I'll text them to you.

Thanks, I saw a few photos on a google search. Doesn't bother me, and no way will i put a fake pipe on. Makes me think of silicon *****. May look nice, but it just won't feel right...

Those bushings - they look like they still have some poly between them and the TT, I was thinking more of the ones that are basically a solid block of aluminium. I was thinking i'd get both and feel them out before putting it all back together, but that will be kinda useless. Probably need a ride to tell for real.

The Alloy Arts may be a good compromise. Mostly solid with a little poly to take the edge off. Interesting.

Deleted the how to get the time displayed on the GPS question. RTFM FTW.

Thanks again.

.

AA make several different bushings; the ones that are solid aluminum are the ones I was talking about and planned on using this time.

In regards to your wish list of parts; have you considered rear air ride? JNR Designed makes a really nice kit that's 90% plug & play for $400 shipped to your door. Had the Monroe kit on my last bike, and the Gabriel kit on this bike. I like the firmness of the Gabriel kit better. Check them out on Facebook.

There are few videos out on swapping the bars on the RG. Road 6 has a pretty comprehensive video on it. To go up to 13's, I believe the only thing you will need to do is pull the clips that are behind the speedo you have a little more room. Otherwise all of the connectors are right there. Then push the pin in or pull it out, on the lower clamp and you'll be good to go.

With 12" bars, personally i wouldnt spend the time to change out the bushings. My 11" ones have very little play in them with the factory bushings.

Only time it feels heavy is if you have to push it around and on a level surface thats not bad at all. I went from an 883 to a RGS. Hardest part for me was finding the floorboards the first few rides ... The bike handles like a dream. Balance on the new RGS is phenomenal. Only upgrades i've done is 14" LRS Thresher windshield and qd hardware for the passenger back rest. I have had no desire to change the bars they fit me perfectly as is. I also love the stock exhaust sound. It sounds good but is not annoying like my Sportster. I love the look of apes just not how a bike with them handles with them. I love the wind protection of the fairing and putting my arms outside of it doesn't work for me. Enjoy your awesome ride!

I gotta figure out what this pin you refer to is, I'm also waiting on the service manual which the dealer has to order.

When you say you wouldn't spend the time to change the bushings - is it much different then on other models? I can change them in about 5 min on my Dyna once the bars are off.
