Default My first bagger

Been on the Dyna forum for a while (currently have a Low Rider-S). Been flirting with a bagger as my gf doesn't like riding on the S. Today I finally decided to go for it, since tomorrow is my birthday and I felt like I deserved a present lol. Picked up a leftover 2016 Road Glide special in Superior Blue. The extra 200lbs over my Low Rider is definitely noticeable, but i gotta say, I love it. The fairing is perfect for me. Took a SG and RK out as well, but the RG really worked best for me.

So my first question: How tall can you go for bars w/o extending wiring or hydraulics? Gotta get some taller bars ASAP.

Will probably remove the heel shifter at some point, but I will try to get used to heel/toe shifting first. Don't think I will though. Already ordered custom dynamics LED's for the sigs. Will leave the pipes on till after I get the 1K done, then off they go and to the dyno we go.

I've had supertrapps on my last two dynas, and am considering for the RG as well. But I am going to do some research on bagger pipes as well.

Anyway, here she is: (No, that's not my ricer in the background. It's a shared parking garage in my condo.)

I'm most interested in the handlebar question at the moment, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Congrats. This should help a little with the bar question.

Congrats on the new ride. I can tell you I used factory wires and lines on my SGS when installing 10 3/4 " KST Mayhem bars, but no help on an RG. I'd do the bar question in a separate post. I'm sure the fine folks here will have the answers. I found a great install video on YouTube for my scooter so a search there might help you.

Harley's Chizeled Lo and Tall boys do not need any wire or cable lengthening. I bought the Chizeled Lo's but I am selling them. With the Tall boys you have to remove the plastic end clip holder under the instrument panel to get all the wires connected.

Here is the link for the lo's:

Happy belated birthday and congratulations on your new shark. I came off a softail two years ago and love my SGS. I had the 12" MBB on my last SGS, and plan on doing them again on this one. I believe 14" is the tallest you can go without extending the hydraulic lines.

I was initially set of the Vindiktas because of the 1.5" tubing, but after seeing how far they sat back from the fairing, I changed my mind. Couldn't be happier with the Yaffee's. I got a good price on them from Direct Cycle Parts.

I had a 124" built for this one and used the TTS tuner and D&D Boarzilla exhaust. The thing pulls hard; very happy I decided to do the motor first on this bike.

Do A LOT of research before you buy anything; I hate spending money twice and have changed my mind on my plans for this bike several times along the way. Feel free to hit me up if you need any help.

Thanks! I do really like the look of the the F47 bars, think that's where I'm going.

Lol to your comment about spending multiple times. This is my 4th Harley, so I am an expert at that...!

Yeah, I like the look of them and not having to trim the inner fairing like you do with the Vindikta bars (SG models only) was a plus, but $430 was a little much I thought. I couldn't find them from any other vendor for a discounted price either. Even the Carlini bars aren't THAT expensive, and they make some nice bars.

FYI, NAMZ makes a kit that replace the factory control wires on the Rushmore bikes. No more messing with the 8" extensions; NHCX-CB14 is the part number. You should be good with the slack in the TBW harness.

Thanks.

F 47 seems to say that 14" bars will will with a little massaging, and i'm thinking 12's - so I should be good. And yes, they are too damn expensive.

I'll definitely be using poly bushings, but has anyone used the solid AL ones? Wondering it they would be too harsh. I like the idea of a solid connection to the trees though. On my Dyna, its a 5 min job to switch them. Here not so much, so I only want to do it once...
