Waypoint/ROute limits within Boom
If there is no issue with it loading there will be an issue at some point in the route where you have to start the route over, either after a gas stop, food stop or photo stop and it doesn't start you back where you left off.
You have to figure out where you are on your route and start at the closes waypoint you have in your route that is in front of you and that is frustrating when you are traveling in areas that you are not familiar with and might not know street names or other distinguishing details on the waypoints to know what it ahead of you or behind you. This typically isn't an issue on shorter local rides but this has happened to me several times on long distance trips and it was frustrating enough to mount my Zumo on my bike and not bother with the on board Navi.
Failure to wait for the nav will result in the system becoming confused because when it acquires the location from the satellites it will be different than the saved location when it shut down. This will cause multiple new instructions to be generated trying to get back to that shut down location in order to resume the interrupted route. I believe this is what you've experienced & described.

I was just wondering if you did the turn-by-turn Route 66 routing yourself or if you were able to download it somewhere?
.....
So I ended up creating my own routes ........... and it ended up being 28 separate routes, each approx 40-50 waypoints, to get from Joliet, Ill to Sante Fe, NM. I wanted to stick to the original route as much as possible. I found that plotting the route helped me 'learn' the route, which comes in handy because due to map errors and/or my plotting mistakes, it seems you always have to make some adjustments/judgement calls while on the route.
PM me if you want a sample GPX file.
