Default rear reflector removal?

I am aware that the correct way to get this removed is to remove the light bar, but with my meat hands I cannot get to the bolts in the fender with the wheel on. Is there any other way to get that reflector off?

Jack the back of your bike up, pull the mufflers, Slightly loosen the top shock bolts, then remove (with a jack supporting the rear tire) the lower shock bolts. Slowly let the jack down. I would think that might give you enough clearance. imho

Good luck.......Mike

i thought about that basically swing the wheel down a bit. i could do that, but i was hoping that there was a less intrusive way. if not that is the way i will do it.

Use Google. Search for something and also put in "site:www.hdforums.com". It will give results from the forum only.

Try: tail light reflector removal site:www.hdforums.com

Adjust your search terms if you don't get enough info.

I was able to remove mine by getting my hand up there with a regular box end wrench but it wasn't the easiest due to the lack of room to work. Made it happen though so I could install a license plate frame as well as remove the reflector.

I found that if I used a frame jack and jacked it just far enough to take the weight off the shocks I could get my meathooks up there to remove the license plate frame and the reflector. Not without a few cuss words however.

Another thought, there's gotta be a close neighbor kid or something that wouldn't mind sticking his hand up there to help out. Might spark his interest in bikes! Maybe a riding buddy's kid could help out as well? Get the girlfriend/wife to do it and offer to do the dishes or something in return haha.

Try a heat gun or a hair dryer, it's just glued no, maybe you could add a light there.
