Default Inaccurate compass on map screen

No matter what software update I install or map version, the compass on the map screen points to any direction regardless of it's accuracy. 99% of the time, the heading is wrong. If I go to the compass screen, the heading/direction is accurate. If I go to the any other screen that shows the heading, one or two letters on the bottom, it is also accurate. The inaccuracy of the compass on the map screen does not change if navigation is active or inactive.

A typical scenario shows the compass heading NE and I am actually going NW. Other times, I will be heading SW and the compass on the map screen shows SE. The worst experience is when I am going E and it shows W.

Are other riders seeing this issue?

There is a setting somewhere to change whether the map shows true north up or your direction of travel up. Got me too when I first got my '15 Limited.

What software version are you running? Older software, the "compass" isn't a compass, it's a direction of travel indicator. Here's an excerpt from the 2015 manual.

1.21.2.1 and I have it always set to 2D & heading up. I refer to it as a compass but you are correct, it is a heading indicator. As I said, it indicates I am heading E when I am actually heading W.

In the above graphic, my actual compass is showing NW but the heading indicator shows NE.

edit: Shouldn't all the directions match? For example, if the compass screen shows I am heading South and the bottom of my music screen has an "S", shouldn't the heading indicator on the map screen point to the south?

My heading indicator used to be correct. In last two revisions it points right when heading west and points left when heading east. I know no way of correcting this. Any ideas anyone?

I did some reading using heading and compass as keywords for the search and all I could find were references to airplanes and boats where variations in conditions may make your heading different from a magnetic compass reading. Having said that, I have no idea why a heading indicator would point 180° from your compass direction.

Yes. Latest updates the heading indicator has now been changed to function as a compass. Change was made based on customer feedback.

If the map is oriented to "direction of travel up" and the direction of travel is west, a compass will point to the right (north) & a direction of travel indicator will point to the left (west, as north is always up for the direction of travel indicator).
