Default Lower Fairing Vents

So the vents in the lower fairing are very hard to slide open and closed. I have all the books on the bike and do not see anywhere to lubricate the slides in the lowers. Has anyone figured out what to use and where to put it to make them slide easier. I think it is going to break something if I do not figure this out.

Mine did break! Dealer fixed under warranty and lubricated when they did the job. I’m going to spray with silicone lubricant every once in a while.

I fixed the problem as soon as I got the. I removed the nut and bolt where they pivot in the center, and added a longer bolt so I could put a spring on the bolt with a large washer. then I put the nut back on and screwed it down, not tight but snug enough to hold the vent anyplace I put it. the spring gives it constant pressure when adjusted just right. I used a nylock nut instead of the regular nut so it doesn't move either once adjusted. the spring was from Home Depot in their misc. hardware area.

You're basically going to have to take them apart and lubricate all the joints and bearing surfaces to the mechanism that you find inside. On mine, there is actually a (plastic) ball joint.

I have radiators so they don't pivet and they just worked better over time. Try opening and closing them a few times to see if they loosen on there own.

All I can say is the colder it is the harder they are to adjust , I thought they were going to break Saturday but in fairness I haven’t moved them much

One of my vents completely locked up. Once it warms up I need to fix that.

Mine are hard to move too. I sprayed some silicone spray on the joint but that didn't help. I guess I'll take them apart and see what I can do. I like the spring idea Surfcitydude posted.
