Has anyone tried Rever for planning trips? I'm wondering how well the gpx files work when loaded in the boom system. I've used the HDplanner website several times but looking for other options since the hd site always seems to be glitchy and unreliable.
There's Tyre. Are you using waypoints when planning your rides? That's the key.
Yes, I use waypoints. I dont have any problems with routes from hdplanner working on the bike, my problem is the website itself seems to have problems at the worst possible times.
I have used REVER and it works depending on the option you save the route with. I can't remember which I used as I found this app to be much more user friendly. https://www.myrouteapp.com/en/user/login
I believe it was developed by the folks at TYRE which also works pretty well.
I use Garmin Basecamp, once you get it down (there's an initial learning curve), it works pretty much flawlessly - both the software and the gpx file imported to the Boombox. I use it for short and long multi-day trips, and has always worked well as long as you enter enough waypoints, but that's just common sense with any app.

I used Tyre for many, many routes, including my Route 66 trip.
I like that I can develop routes on my PC via the web site and of course create GPX files for BOOM. But you can also view the routes on your smartphone via the associated app (and yes, you can update the routes from the phone, too.)
Both Tyre and myrouteapp are FREE and very easy to use.

Can you export gpx files with the free subscription or do you have to pay for that?

Yes, the free version of myrouteapp AND the free version of Tyre, allow you to export/save to gpx files (and many other formats, AND they allow you to import many file types, so you may be able to import your existing RP routes).
They BOTH do have 'upgraded versions' available to purchase, but I've been very happy with the free versions.
I've tried multiple routing apps, and these are easily my favorites.
