Guess I will keep and eye on mine - have almost 35,000 on the bike.

Headed to Sturgis this year - perhaps I should buy an extra one and keep it handy

I would wait until they come out with the revision, I think the current crappy pump costs around $400 just for the part.

You can still ride the bike if it fails.

Thank AClazer - at $400, I will indeed wait. Plus, I have an ESP until Sept 2020.

Well I have to recant my story. I was happy for a ride and went to ride it the next weekend when the check engine light and the temp light came on. The pump once again took a crap. I contacted pirate and he said he would send me a return label so he could look at it. A week later no email or shipping label. I then called again and he said if he cannot fix it he would return my money paid to him via paypal. This two weeks now and have not heard from him via email or phone call. My new pump arrived from board tracker yesterday and I installed it in fifteen minutes. I am sure I am out the hundred dollars i paid and just dont want anyone to get in the same boat I am. I have been patient as well as understanding of someone elses time. I will not say bad things about a man I personally do not know I am just voicing my experience.

My bike is in the shop for its second water pump. I replaced the first one with less than 15k last year about April time frame. This time I took it to the shop, they looked at it, called me and said it was fine just low on fluid. I told them, no it needs a pump, but alas I picked it up, rode down the street to the stop light and the check engine light and temp light came on! So back to the dealer! ESP is good until 2020!

I would really like to find a replacement though. Any thought on retrofitting the M8 water pump?

Tell ya'll what; if you have an ex-water-pump that is complete; shoot me a PM. If you're in the L.A. area getting it should be easy, if not . . . . let's figure it out.

I'd like to have a pump in hand. It doesn't need to work. It just needs to be complete. Like Ivory Soap I'm 99 44/10'ths percent certain that Harley is using a Bosch pump. But I need one in hand so that I can visit a parts warehouse and try and match it up. What Harley wants for a pump with the words "Harley-Davidson" stamped on it and what Bosch pumps can be had for are two completely different worlds. What a shock!

The Harley Water Pump looks exactly like a Bosch Inter-cooler Water Pump that is used on an awful lot of turbocharged cars. These Bosch Water Pumps go for around $60 to $80. I can't be the only one who has noticed this. Looking at some Bosch information it appears that one or more of the following Bosh Part Numbers might be an exact replacement: 0392020024, 0392020034, 0392020039 and 0392020064. The physical external dimensions of the pump and the size of the water hose fittings would be the only deal breakers. It might even be that the wiring connectors are the same, although that could be easily handled.

I also posted on this subject in another thread and included some details and pictures FWIW. I'll also post this in that thread.

From pics of the Bosch the endcap is different...plug in is straight off end and the Harley is flat with 90 degree on the plugin.

I wish someone would send you one, I'm with you on this, I think it's the bosch also but not sure on the plug-in.

I havent found a single manufacturer that makes the pump with the outlet size the harley pump is. All are either 3/4 or 5/8 of an inch hose size. Jabsco made one similar but has discontinued it. Their replacement is this one. http://www.pumpvendor.com/Jabsco_59510-0012.html
