Default Error code
When I start my 2016 Limited recently the display reads VIN ERR. Anyone know what this is referring to?

Could be low battery voltage? Some have reported this along with "sluggish starting" & replacement battery cleared it.

Have you installed a tuner? Might indicate a problem locking to your bike's VIN.

I have an FP3. Thanks, it’s starting to crank pretty hard to start and a new battery is on my list. Here in the Arizona heat batteries don’t last more than two or three years. I keep it on a tender all of the time.

Put some dielectric grease on the connections between the Tender and your bike. Sometimes they get corroded.

Yep, low voltage. Battery going south, get another soon.

Ok, so I need a new battery. I still have a little over a year left on my warranty, does putting in an after market battery void the warranty?

Take it to the dealer and ask for a new battery.

I installed a FP3 like you did on my 15 RGS.

Every once in awhile it will display that code as well. I generally hit the toggle switch on the right side and it clears itself.

An aftermarket battery will not void your warranty. But since you still have a year left, take it to the dealer, perhaps they'll put in a new battery- can't hurt to try.
