Starting Problem
I had my battery run down on me due to lack of use for about 6 weeks; I have recharged the battery but now the bike doesn't start I get a series of clicking noises and the speedometer shows a message 'Side Stand'. Any ideas as to the problem???
I have checked the bike over with the stand both up and down the message is the same.

Id suggest getting a battery tender for your scooter
Bike is an 09 Fatbob; don't have the means to plug a battery optimiser in near the bike as it is stored outside. I have had the battery charging overnight, showing 12.7v on the meter. I think it may be to do with the sensor on the jiffy stand or with the clutch lever as I had the left hand switch housing apart around 6 weeks ago looking at swapping the grips out. If I try to push the bike when it is in gear and have the clutch pulled in it doesn't move almost like the clutch lever isn't pulled in.
Will have to look at getting the bike recovered on Monday to local garage.

The Jiffy Stand light is on International models only, AFAIK.
Batteries can take a dump for no reason at all. They can show a 'surface charge' and fool you, too. If you think there is a dead short or a draw on your bike, that would certainly cause the battery to die but it should come back after a good charge. Usually. If it doesn't...... Batteries will short out on you sometimes if you let them go all the way down. Sometimes they'll short out on you just because they're in bad mood.
And, this is just my opinion, but I'm not a big fan of keeping a battery at 100% charge all the time. Just me, I guess. If your bike sits a lot, just run the extension cord and battery charger out to it every couple weeks and gently bring it up to full charge. Remember, motorcycle batteries are not very big. They're (what) 300 CCA? Around there? My lawn mower battery is that size and it's only turning over a 26 HP engine.
Just my $.02 -- Not sure it's worth even that.
I put the battery on charge with a different charger and it appears fine now. Looks like the battery needed a long time to get to peak condition as it was on charge for a total of around 48 hours.
