My battery is getting weak and I just bought bike aug. 08 less than 5000 miles have been putting batt. tender on it does not seem to help going to take it back today>
Depending on what brand battery tender you used , you might have cooked the battery. Make sure that it was not a timed charge but an as needed charger.
You should not have to put a tender on a bike unless you let it sit for extended periods of time. Example 3 or 4 months. One of my bikes sat all winter - (Nov - Mar) and it starter right up without even clicking the compression releases. No battery tender or jumping required.
Also double check the connections and keep in mind that it takes a few miles to recharge the battery after initial starting.
+1 on the proper battery tenders, the only one one tenderis one that will go into a float mode when the battery is fully charged and will charge atomatically when the battery discharges down to a preset limit back up to the float limit.
Also i forgot to tell you to just double check that the charging system on the bike is operating correctly. Stators, rotors & regulators can go bad. You might check this stuff too
