Stopped by my dealer and he checked my version and it was up to date. He basically said if it happens again I should revert to stock config so there’s no possible issue for them to repair/replace it. Which kinda sucks, but at least he’s not automatically voiding me. So it means I need to pick up a set of stock speakers and a speaker cable harness, if it cooks.

Rode a good part of today and it was flawless. So maybe an isolated incident. Who knows, but still very strange.

While there I checked on my FXR getting a new cam, lifters and rocker gaskets (to fix a small weep). Once back together she goes to Rosa’s on Long Island for a Dyno/re-jet. Can’t wait.

Glad it is working but now I would certainly be concerned. How did you do the reset?

Hold power button while switching on directly to accessory position. Hold button for 2 seconds after agree screen appears. Agree then a menu option appears “DCM” I think it was called - gives an option for “factory reset”

Last fall I got the bike out and the screen never came on. Cycled the ignition a few times and still didn’t work. Started the bike, let it run, shut it off, checked again, no Boom.

Checked the fuses, all were good, said screw it because I had to meet with friends so I put the saddlebag and side cover back on, got on the bike and sure enough, the Boom came on. Damn technology!!!

(Everything is stock still with my system by the way)

FYI. Mine went completely dead. Found the company that does the Harman Cardon Boom repair. CTDI. Dealer only repairs. Contracted with HD and Harman. Called customer service and found they do a repair exchange for $550.00. The dealer will charge $685.00. Got to supply VIN and SN of the Boom. Still cheaper than a new unit or an eBay purchase.

So will they do an exchange directly through a private party or do they only work through a HD dealership?

Unfortunately they have a contract with Harman and HD. They do not service private public.

when i bought my '14 sgs ( new bike first issue of the boom), i remember the 'blank screen issue' of which i experienced twice or something like that. Others on this web experienced the same issue for a time.
each time, the screen came back after a short time each time of the two times it occurred. I don't remember if the radio itself did not work when the blank screen occurred. No one ever had a solution for it. After almost 5 years of owning my sgs I have not experienced the blank screen issue for over 4 + years. I assumed the ongoing software updates fixed the issue.

Hi all,

My 2015 RGS has had a couple incidences where the radio Boom didn't power up when I started bike. It did power on next time I started bike. Sometimes it seems the radio goes silent for 2-3 seconds when its playing the radio. I find I can only listen to radio around town anyway and most of the time I have the screen set to temp and oil pressure. AS far as I know its only been updated once at Twin Falls HD......goldie
