My 2015 RGS has had a couple incidences where the radio Boom didn't power up when I started bike. It did power on next time I started bike. Sometimes it seems the radio goes silent for 2-3 seconds when its playing the radio. I find I can only listen to radio around town anyway and most of the time I have the screen set to temp and oil pressure. AS far as I know its only been updated once at Twin Falls HD......goldie
Thanks for that. But it actually reminds me of another (OT) question. Where is the oil pressure display? Ive looked several times and you cant seem to find it.
I disagree that there are a large number of 6.5 Boom Box radios that go bad. I've been reading the posts on this forum for 3 years and while there have been many posts on Bluetooth, song playlists, nav route planning, various radio set-up options, dispay options, menue access, radio reception, speakers, amps, etc etc ......there just isn't much conversation at all on Boom Boxes going bad. I don't think it's a "common" problem, rather it's a very rare occurance. I'm not suggesting that a ESP isn't worthwhile even though it's just not for me....but there are numerous threads that discuss ESP's should a person want to read various "pro & con" opinions.
OK...today I "ate some crow" today.....after 3 years of trouble free Boom Box operation on my 2015 Ultra Limited, today I had my first issue. I rode all day today and started the engine a number of times and never ever had a radio start-up issue with my Boom Box. However, the last time I fired up the bike the Boom Box turned on and displayed the "accept" screen which sometimes I acknowledge with a press and sometimes I don't since I know in a few seconds it moves past that screen, but instead of booting up the Boom Box screen went totally BLACK and nothing I tried would turn it back on or get the radio to play. Shutting the bike down, restarting, pressing all the buttons etc etc...nothing worked. Since I was only a few miles from a HD dealer I pulled in, shut down and explained my issue to the service writer. After hearing my issue he walked out to my bike, turned on the ignition....AND VOILA!!!...the Boom Box turned on just as it always has. No further problems occurred today.
Any ideas?...any others having an issue?
(btw....no new updates have been downloaded recently)
Just a quick note....My dealers radio expert tech recommends I update my BoomBox software to the latest version. (my software version is one version behind the current one). He advised that the new software will address and correct my issue from happening again. So today I'll have them update to version 1.22.0.1.

Hopefully you're not being charged for that since you can do it yourself for free.
My dealer does FREE software updates while you wait. Usually one of the the service writers will walk out to the cycle in the parking lot and update ...they don't even want you to drive into the service department. It's the most customer friendly dealership I've ever been to.
(FYI....it's UKES HD in Kenosha, Wisconsin, just south of Milwaukee. A good place to stop on your way to Milwaukee and the HD Museum or the HD Engine Plant Tour)
The boom on my wife's street glide went dead once. Cycled ignition several times and would not come back on. I pulled the main fuse and then it came back on. This was 2 years ago and its been fine since.
