It's gotten to the point where I (and I'm sure many others, except for the "I hate Howard" fan club) don't even read his threads anymore. He had some good info, but it's just not worth wading through the venom.....

He has no idea that he has become the anti-Howard... and as such, has tainted his contributions...

^ You said it all at this point. I’ve read that the older shock threads were always thrown off course after Howard got involved but lately, lyork is taking the cake.

And hopefully there’s no offense taken lyork. You did make some really valid points but now it just seems like baiting.

Does anyone actually notice if their bike is an inch lower? Da fuq? Is it for looks when it’s parked at the bar? Nobody knows when you’re riding the thing, which, it sounds like you might enjoy.

Get a quality 13” shock.

Let the debates begin about which one that is.

Seriously, give him a call when setting them up (assuming you got them from him) and he will help you dial them right in.
What are you talking about? I never mentioned shock length. And shock stroke may not be the same as travel depending on the shock to swingarm ratio. Shock length is eye to eye, and has NOTHING TO DO WITH TRAVEL OR STROKE. And some shocks, such as my HD 357's, do have some length adjust-ability.

I repeat -" more travel, better ride. All thing being equal of course".

I’ve never had any contact with Howard so I can’t comment on how he is to deal with. The majority of forum posts would have me believe he’s an extremely knowledgeable guy with a very good product.

Having said that, there’s also a number of other good shock brands out there so some research into several brands seems prudent before dropping your hard earned money on new shocks. I read quite a bit before deciding on my pro-action shocks. I’ve got a close friend that has owned supershox for years and loves them. I almost went that direction too but after talking with George, I decided to go with PA and have been very happy with them.

Read all you can, talk to current owners, and if possible talk to the suspension experts. You’ll spend less in the long run.

Thats the stupidest thing I’ve heard all day...

Maybe I’m Howard too. I bought three sets of shocks from him (or, from myself you probably think) and have another set on the way for my FXR and I’ve had nothing but great experiences each time. Maybe I just don’t have the need to be coddled and appreciate direct, “how it is” talk. I guess growing up in the Bronx made my skin thick enough. Howard knows his stuff and is well worth dealing with.
