Default Wind splitter windshield opinions.

Any one have experimence with Harley's wind splitter shield on their Road King. For the most part I'm happy with the stock one. But the WS shield looks interesting .

Klock Werks! Only shield I would use. I tried the wind splitter and it was not the same. Try the Klock Works flare.

It came on my '14 RK CVO. It looks good yet not high enough for me (6') as the bugs hit the helmet at eye level. The vent minimizes buffeting. I replaced it with a klock werks 16".

I have a brand new windspitter in my garage. It was terrible. Installed a Freedom Shield and it's been great. Way better wind protection and quality than the windsplitter.

For what it’s worth, I tried a 12” Windsplitter on my RGU, and it just didn’t get the job done. Primarily, I would get too much wind on my upper shoulders & biceps area. Replaced with a 13” Freedom Shield Touring, and I am as cozy as can be. Also, it is a much higher quality windshield than the splitter.

I think it will depend on your height. It sounds like most taller riders don't care for the Wind Splitter on the RK's. For me at 5'6" it is great! You definitely need to find the right adjustment on the vent. I took it out on an open hwy at 80 mph and made very small adjustments to the vent until I locked in the best air flow. I also have lower farings and the triple tree deflector, and have smooth comfortable air over 90 mph. I have more air, but it is smoother, less buffeting on my Road King, than I had on my previous Street Glide with the either 8.5 or 6.5 Klock Werks windshields. I also have the Freedom Shields CVO 18" which uses the Wind Splitter mounting hardware. The Freedom blocks more wind than the Wind Splitter, but with my 12" bars, the Freedom angles back to far and hits bars. I personally prefer the look of the Wind Splitter too.

Here are pictures of both the Wind Splitter and the Freedom CVO.

I'm 6'0". My buddy is 5'7"ish. He has a windsplitter on his StreetGlide. He thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I've ridden his SG in contemplation of getting a windsplitter for my Ultra. I thought it was a complete POS. I went with an LRS recurve. I was able to go down an inch or 2 from my stock windshield yet raise the windstream 4-5 inches over my head.
