U0184 Code

U0184 Code
I recently purchased a 2016 Road Glide, this purchase came with an aftermarket head unit. The U0184 code is for lost communication with radio. Can my BCM be flashed to remove the radio from the CAN bus checks to eliminate this code? If so, will doing do also disable all the hand controls that control radio functions; volme up/down, channel changing, etc?

I tried that, the code just returned. When I had the alarm system put on the bike, they were able to program the bike so it no longer looked for the signal from the radio and I no longer have the code.

The BCM is looking for the Radio on the CAN Bus data circuit and since the Radio isn't there the BCM can't find it/talk to it (Duh!).
There are probably three options:

- The Dealer may (and I emphasize "may") be able to program (re-flash) the BCM to not look for the Radio. The Dealer will probably need to contact Harley Service to determine if this can be done and if it is possible, how to do it.
- The Dealer may be able to install a "dummy" plug in the motorcycle side of the original radio's wiring harness. Sometimes this "dummy" plug is called a "Termination" or a "Terminator" or a "Termination Resistor" or a "Load Resistor" This is fairly common on the automotive side of the business. If this can be done, either the Dealer can check with Harley Service or you might check with the manufacturer of the radio that has been installed on the bike. They've probably run into this with other customers and very likely will know what if anything can be done to resolve it.
- You could always reinstall the original radio, or an aftermarket radio that is designed to work with the Harley CAN Bus system. Probably not a fun or a cheap solution . . . but it may be a last resort that you'll have to consider.

Metra makes an installation kit for aftermarket radios that sends a "Health Signal" to the BCM and avoids the Security Light issue.

I believe my coolant pump is starting to fail in my 14FLTK and today a check engine light caused me to check and see for any fault codes. I had two codes, UO 100 and UO 184, I have a stock radio and it was on playing music at the time, not sure what would cause the UO 184 code on my bike.
