Default Harley Lifters

Hi all,
I've got a 2015 RGS with 35k on her. I bought it used last May with 4300 miles on her and bought the 5yr ESP warranty. My lifters are making a racket. The dealership where I bought it says this is normal. I'm taking it in to another dealer tomorrow hoping they will replace them before 1 explodes. I don't want one to implode and take out the motor in the middle of summer. My question is if they will only replace with "harley parts" which would be better. The standard lifter or the SE. I know they are both crap but which will I better off going with if that's my only choice.

Thanks in advance...... goldie

If they are replacing under warranty, a lot of dealers will allow you to use aftermarket lifters as replacements, you simply have to pay the difference in price. It's worth it to ask if of course you are interested.

Since it's an ESP and not the factory warranty, shouldn't the ESP company be the one who decides if the lifters need replacing? Can't you skip the dealer and take the bike to an independent instead? I don't know. I'm just asking.

Had my lifters replaced at 45k on my 14 Ulta Classic. Dealer told me they would not recommend HD lifters. They used Feuling brand. The repair was covered by my Cornerstone ESP.

That's normal, they all do that - until you replace them with quality US-made parts instead of more Chinese MoCo junk.

Factory-shimmed S&S Premium lifters and their "Quickie' push rods adjusted 1/4 turn "off the shim" silenced mine. I put in a set of Rockout rocker shaft locking shims too.

My '15 Limited sounds like a sewing machine now, instead of sounding something like a 1940's hay baler. Couldn't be happier with the results! Worth every penny.

Good luck,

JP

I did plenty of research on this when I put in my Woods 222 cams in my 2012 Limited. I went with Comp. Cams 850-1 lifters.... same roller lifters in small block Chevys. I later put in a set of Rockouts (which really helped the top end noise) in the heads. Ran for 50,000 miles before I traded for my '19. Very pleased with the results.

Hi all,

Not many indy's in my neck of the woods. Dealer said they are fine so that's where we sit at the moment. Thanks to all for their comments and thoughts......goldie

I installed s&s, lifters. They are made by Defi. Small block Chevy lifters. They say on them in big letters. Made in USA.

Yep. They're the best your money can buy, IMO.
