Did these bikes come with a battery tender included when new? The one I just bought has a battery tender pigtal connector sticking-out from the side as we all normally do for easy access when parked. However, the fitting is slightly different size than my Deltran "Bettery Tender Plus" things I have laying around. Do any of you know if it's a HD tender/part? I didn't get the tender from the guy and I'd rather not dimantle the battery compartment to re-install a different tender if I don't have to.
my 2016 RGU has a tender line factory installed and the pigtail works with my older Harley branded battery tender.......
Thanks Grouser! That's exactly what it looks like...a factory installed job. I'll go see if I can buy an HD-branded tender and hope the connectors, well, connect!
sgnden -these bikes did come with a tender. Odd that you are saying that the one that is connected is a different size. They are all pretty standard.
Take another look at it and make sure that the original owner didn't install a jumpstart battery connector - they have a different end (usually blue). Those are OK as long as they have the heavier wiring. That connector can then be converted to the standard tender wire.
So, on the battery, if the jumper connector is connected, that can be converted to a tender wire - that is OK.
On the battery, if the tender connector is connected to the battery, then, it is not OK to convert that to a jumper connector (tender connector is not strong enough to handle a jumper)

Yeah, I triple checked even wonering if it was just the plactic housing around the connector but the actual post is smaller diameter than the common green "Battery Tender Plus" (Deltran?). The male side of the connector coming out of the bike is smaller than the tender's connector.
Here's a picture ... the left side is coming out of the bike.
My 2016 RGU had the standard connector installed left side near saddle bag top . Same as my 2017 did .
Hmm, this one is on the right. Under the left side cover, there is a much larger connector. Maybe for uploads/diagnostics? But the tender pigtail is on the right.
Are you saying you have two separate connectors? I actually have two on my bike also. I have one for the battery tender - and the second one for the jumpstart.
You can actually convert the jumpstart to a tender - but, I decided to leave them separate.
I have an off brand battery tender and the connector is a different size than the plug on the bike. They plug right together though, no issues.
I'm using the connector on the left side of the bike. I do nothing with the connector on the right side.
