Default Water pump

Recently installed new style water pump on my 14 flhtk I have yet to notice it running I checked fans with ignition on hold throttle half way every thing appeared to be working. what determines when the pump runs is it temp sensor on the radiator or some thing else?

Here is a description of the Cooling System operation from the 2015 Service Manual along with a good video about the operation of the cooling system. Of course, nothing replaces a Service Manual.

Your manual is showing the old pump. The OP is asking about the new pump, which eliminates the thermostat, but does not eliminate the temperature sensor in the left radiator. I haven't found anything that validates how the new system works. I know it comes with a new wiring harness, so maybe the ECM controls when the pump and fans run? I don't know. I still have the old pump on my '14 Limited.

I installed the new pump kit on my '14 TK 2 weeks ago. It comes with a new wiring harness but its just an adapter so the old plug will work with the new pump. It's a two wire connection. I assume it has to circulate continuously to move the hot coolant to the left radiator where the fan control sensor is. Using the interface for my FP3 I can watch the coolant temp rise to the 230 range where the fan kicks in then drop to the 225 range where the fans turn off.

I installed the new style pump as well and this is exactly the same thing I see with my FP3. They don't run nearly as much as they used to, I assume because the coolant is being circulated continuously through the radiators.
