Curious to see how long it takes Harley to: 1. Eliminate the smallest spring and let the mid and large size springs do the work, or 2. Re-engineer the spring pack to provide more pre-load. In reality, those are both the same solution just accomplished in slightly different ways.
Mines got 42K on it and it’s made noise since I’ve owned the bike. If it ever decides to **** the bed, I’m going to a solid sprocket and not looking back.
Mine has 56k on it and no problems. I did purchase a Baker a few years ago in the event it went bad and knock on wood I am still stock. Maybe that is the solution!
I thought I had the dreaded bad compensator on my 15 RGS so I pulled the primary to check it out at about 2000 miles. It was just that the primary so noisy as hell with that HD primary chain adjuster. So I installed a hydraulic one from Southern Oregon Hot Bikes. I had one on my older RG with a 120 motor and never had an issue. After the install, the primary has been quiet as can be. Really happy with this. Thought I would try out the Baker Attitude adjuster and see how it works and as soon as I got it in and running, my primary went back to sounding like marbles rattling around. Figure that one out. Compensator and clutch basket are tight. Never seen something like this happen. Just turned 30K miles a couple of weeks ago and the SOHO hydraulic adjuster is still working great. May be of use to some of you guys having issues with the HD adjuster putting all that pressure on the primary drive.
Well I took my bike 2015 Ultra limied into reno HD and hey called me later that day and said I need a new compensator. I have ESP so thats good. I bought the bike used it had 15k and some change, I have had it a little over a year and now it has 29800. Kinda bummed cause they said 7-10 business days to get the part. That sucks, oh well hopefully when I get it back all is good.
I always wondered if people who have a compensator issue have modified their engines. My 14 has been rock solid, getting close to 28,000 miles now, never has needed a repair (god I hate saying that)
Not looking to place blame just curious.
More or less it would help everyone to know these things, also, what type of fluids/oils they are using in the primary, or if its a transmission issue/the type oil, same goes for the engine.
