my '20 electra glide standard came with a solo seat... its not bad... just not to my taste
i have a big ole touring seat... also not bad, but its got that bulky passenger section (and a tear)
i noticed the stock street glide seat has a more tapered passenger section... not sure about the bucket.
any opinions on its "rideability" for those 100-200 mile day trips?
i know people are always switching seats... i am sure i could find someone selling their stock SG seat for next to nothing.
if that is not a good option, what are your opinions on a touring style seat with a more narrow rear passenger section (i like having the option of passenger seating, but it wont happen any time soon, so i want a sleeker/more tapered look to it that flows with the lines of the bike
I ride with an SG seat when doing singles rides. Its not to bad, it sets you a bit lower and rearward. Suggest to go try one on at the dealership. For two up, Mommason won't event think about riding on it as she prefers the stock Ultra passenger seating.
Seats are so subjective..... One man's heaven is another man's hell....
Best to go to a bike night or some such gathering and see if someone will let you sit on a their seat, if you see one that interests you...
Better yet, for HD seats, most dealers have a trial seat program where you give them your seat, they give you a trial seat, and you get a chance to ride on the seat for awhile...
Sadly, most aftermarket seats don't have a trial program, so finding your "best" seat can be expensive...
I love my Corbin but it took me a lot of miles to get used to it. At first it was like sitting on concrete. Now I wouldn’t want to ride on anything else. Trouble with Corbin is, like most seats, you either love ‘em or hate ‘em and you pretty much have to buy one and ride on it for a month or so before you’ll know. Harley dealers are the only ones I know of that let you keep a demo seat for an extended time and, personally, I don’t like their seats.
I used to carry a suction cup pavilion seat for the "can you take me for a ride" thing that pops up when I had a solo seat. I picked up a Roland Sands seat for the look an now that I'm used to it an it's broken in I can ride a few hours on it, you wouldn't think so looking at it. I'm always looking at new seats an I think my next one is going to be a drag specialties predator 3.
I have the Harley Sundowner. I can ride a few hours without problems. However, it does have a large passenger pad so I doubt it's what you're looking. But, it's one of the ones that most dealers will have for a demo, so no harm in trying it out for a few days. Note..fair warning...the demo seat usually has "demo" stamped all over it.
3-400 miles a day on my street glide seat is my comfort limit. back to back 560 mile days were a bit much. and the wife will not ride on the little passenger pillion.
Stock SG seat modified by mean city cycles. Had the tailbone relief mod and memory foam mod for both the rider passenger done. My wife and I can ride all day with no issues.

I just got my street glide seat back from MCC two weeks ago. I had the OEM foam replaced with double memory foam with a heating element. (no tail bone cut, though) I too went with the Street Glide seat for solo riding on my '16 FLHTK. One, it covers up all the tour pack wiring. ( I run w/o it 90% of the time) Two, I like the tapered look of it over the fat, OEM two-up seat. And three, it drops we 2" lower into the bike.
But like the OP, I was only good for 100-120-miles on the OEM glide seat. I only have a couple hundred miles on the MCC rework, so it ain't broke in yet. It looks like the stock OEM glide seat, except for the heat control button on the left side.
MCC can do all sorts of cover-insert changes if you wanna toss them some more coin. I wanted to make sure I liked the memory foam first. But I'll have to wait for spring to really break it in.
my issue with the stock,, SG seat is that it pushes you forward.......other than that i could handel any seat for 200 miles, thats a gas stop.......... ill sell you mine , to your door for $200
