Not sure I would have been able to handle that or not. I really hope this holds...Yea the zip tie was to try to tighten up the housing after I JBd it. Left it there for good measure and hopefully the JB will hold that too.......time will tell.
If you look at the picture in the original post it is one of the side bolts. And half the housing was gone. That kit is for the center or if one of the other brass fitting gets lose and spins.
good to know though if I have more problems. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have a 2019 FlHt with a stripped windshield bolt. I have looked everywhere for a kit for that year, but I cannot find anything. I think that any kit that works for 2014 and up should work? Can anybody help? Thanks
Well.....my fix didnt fix. Let lose pretty quickly on my ride. Removed shell again and the insert was loose. The JB was soft. Took it all off with my finger nail. Not sure what happened. The bowl I mixed it in had plenty left over and I kept the bowl to use again if I needed too. It was hard like it should have been. So what happened.
mechanic friend I ride with gave me some Permatex Black Plastic Weld to try next. If that doesnt work..........
Stopped at local H-D shop and they were a bit baffled too. Both mechanics said the had not seen my mess in the newer bikes. They said whoever did that really jacked on it to blow it up that bad.
Repaired several fairings with the following: Get a piece of ABS plastic and a utility knife and shave off lots of little pieces. Get a can of ABS glue from the plumbing section of Home deport. Mix the ABS shavings with the glue and then apply to crack or hole. I've used this to build new tabs that have broken off as well. It is best to clean and prep the area to be repaired to get a good bond. The repairs remained solid and did not fail.
Quick update for those of you that have responded and followed.
My bike goes in Wednesday for an NEW inner fairing.
And CIRO is paying for inner and install
Once it's done i will be posting a shout out to CIRO so everyone knows about the customer service I received.
Most company's would have run and passed the buck. They stepped up!!!!!
