Okay thanks to those that suggested a film cover for them. I found some on Amazon that was less than $20 bucks and decided to try it. This stuff is really cool. It is thicker than I expected with a light adhesive on the back. Very good quality. Much to my surprise it formed to the curve of the light perfectly without any wrinkles or bubbles. Even my wife likes it and she was very skeptical. We’ll see how it holds up. Most importantly I look forward to comments from others that see it and reactions from other drivers.

I've been running ambers on my RKC since it was new. I like them.

Funny you should mention the Duc having cars move over for him. I also have a Duc, only with white fog/driving lights and find that traffic moves over for me much more than when I'm on my ultra classic even though I ride both at the same speed (well, most of the time anyway). My Duc is red and my HD black, don't know if that makes any difference. But sure is curious. I'm going to try the lamin-x yellow film on the HD lights and see how that works.

After reading this post, I realize why I love RIP. Years ago, I had purchased her a new Mustang. Had those stupid Wire Hub caps on it. Within a week someone took them off near the front door of a restaurant. Insurance replaced them. Not a month went by and it happened again. My insurance man suggests I take a check since he was concerned about State Farm raising my rates for 3 in a row.

Ran no hubcaps forever. Someone ask RIP were her hubcaps were probably a year later. She looked down and said, is something missing..

Agree 100%
Amber passing lights stand out more then anything on the road. Its quite amazing. I dont have LEDS - 2014 Road King stock passing lamps and replaced the white halogen with Amber some years ago, the cost is less then $15.
We travel a lot of fast interstate and my bike stands out more then anything on the road. I also like the effect at night, being they are halogen they are very bright and road signs look nice and crisp.
I too realized the difference many years ago, when I was driving my truck in the interstate and off in a distance I noticed in my rearview mirror a bike coming up on me, the amber lights are what stood out.
I do not fear as much people turning right on red, in fact I think when they see the lights on my bike, even in daytime, they tend to wait longer then maybe they had to in order to let me pass instead of jumping out in front of me.
I do think with the halogen maybe is a little more effective, being they are not as focused as LEDs, the yellow light scatters all over the place, high and low, side to side. Easy for the truckers in big rigs to see as well. Though I have to admit, the LEDs on the Challengers are quite effective, your dead on right about that.

Thanks for all the comments. We rode about 300 miles on Saturday. I could tell they were getting people’s attention. However I had something very strange happen. We are northbound on Hwy 18 out of Wilkesboro, NC heading toward the BRP but still in the level elevation area. Came upon a pickup running about 50 in a 55 mph zone. We were in no hurry and stayed several car lengths behind him but about a mile in he hits his brakes, slows to like 35 mph and waves me around! Not the two or three cars behind me did not get the wave. I think this guy was actually confused by the amber lights and thought I might have been a LEO or emergency vehicle possibly?

I have not ridden at night with them yet. In my driveway there is definitely a yellow glow on the ground. I’ll try it in the dark soon to see if it is better or worse as for lighting performance. Personally I really like how it looks with our green bike. Blends well!

My wife really made my day yesterday. She knows I have been researching Clearwater and Denali lights for some time. She used to absolutely freak over the prices of them but after watching many YouTube videos she sees the value. I notice yesterday that Clearwater had a 15% discount through the 14th (last day) code VIRTUAL RALLY. I mention it and she asks how much the ones I want would be after the discount. She walks off and comes back and hands me her credit card. Tells me to order them and “Happy Fathers Day”. WOW

I ordered the K/E 70 Erica kit with the removable Clear and Yellow covers. Cannot wait to try those bad boys out one night on the BRP.

Default Amber spots

After reading this thread I decided to go with the amber spots again on this bike. I had run them on my last ultra and do believe that they make you more visible. This time I decided to paint the lens with stained glass canary yellow. Well I searched high and low for that paint and couldn’t get it anywhere. Amazon had it for over a hundred dollars so I said f it and put in the sealed beams which I had used on my last bike. Love the look and hopefully I am more vis
