Default Electrical Help

Just finished putting my new bars on and testing the switches. Of course nothing goes easy for me. All good except for the heated grips not working at all. Put a meter on the plug supplying power to connector and have 12 volts. I am no electrician so can someone tell me how to test for continuity on the supply wire from the left grip before I disassemble and re pull? Thanks in advance.

Make sure the round plastic plug at the outboard end of the throttle grip is inserted in the terminal pins at the end of the twist grip sensor. When I did mine, I didn’t align the plug with the pins correctly and I bent one of the pins.

The reason I am telling you to check this is because if the heating element controller, located in the left grip, detects an open or short between the left and right grip circuit, the system is disabled.

Your a lifesaver. Got home tonight after work and looked at that plug. Sure enough both pins were bent. Did not know anything about those pins until you mentioned it. Straightened both of them out and hop the grips worked. Thanks again brother!

You may have to put a small wadded-up piece of electrical tape in the end of the grip to keep the plug seated on those pins.... sometimes they vibrate loose.... for future reference if they quit working....
