Comment taken. Lesson learned. Lead rider should've had the dealer look at his lights. He was in so deep with repairs another couple of hundred perhaps wouldn't have mattered.

No one said we were speeding. Actually we kept to the speed limit or under most of the time. We did see a fairly consistent police or sheriff presence on the road and none of us wanted speeding tickets. Some parts of our ride I felt we were going a bit too under the speed limit. For all my years of riding, I prefer to not hold up traffic while on a bike (bad weather or bad roads is another story). Last thing I want to do is invoke some asshat's road rage while he or she is following me with 4,000lbs of steel around them.
I've been on several rides (3 or 4 bikes) with this lead rider. He was always pretty good. Everyone has off days, everyone makes mistakes. This trip obviously did not go as planned. I have been on some big group rides (for those of us in NH and MA, the Rock 101 charity rides out of Portsmouth Harley). Those rides, I did not like, nor will I participate in them again. Just too much traffic and close riders for me...
IMHO, the Victory rider was not paying attention (rare for him) and made a bad decision to try to stop, instead of just riding past us and turning around. As said earlier, it's easier to look at things in retrospect. I'm just glad he was not seriously hurt.

Another reason I like to ride solo or at most 1 or 2 others max.
