Default Back on a touring frame

After spending the last nine months on a POS 21 Heritage I came back to the touring frame on a 23 RKS. Besides having to go back to stock bars from my 16s, I much prefer the touring chassis

HD makes a lot of good bikes but once you spend some time on HD touring platform you are spoiled for life.

I had an early 2000s RK but stepped away back in 2014. Very happy to be back on a 2014 FLHXS SGS.

I too just returned to a touring model, SGS, from a Heritage. I don't agree on the POS part. It was a fun bike, much easier to handle weight wise and had a better ride than my SGS. I just could not adapt to the solid mounted engine vibration.
Hopefully the 24 or 25s will get the VVT engine and the new balancer running at full engine speed to smooth out the vibrations.
If that happens I will be giving the Heritage a another chance.

Same situation for me. I just got back on the touring frame as well from a 18 Fat boy. I loved the bike, but i just missed the touring platform. Now im back on a SGS and loving every min.

I had a 2013 Dyna Switchback with cams and suspension. I loved the "feel" of that bike. In '21, I took a test ride on a then new Heritage and 2017 Road King. In April '22, I was the 1st person to test ride the then new Low Rider ST, and also test rode an RGS that same day.

Love the agility and improved suspension of the Softails, but without question, the "feel" of the rubber mount engine in the touring chassis is my choice. I don't like the vibes of the Softail once it's moving, vs the soothing pulses of the rubber mount engine at speed. It will never happen, but I'd love to see a mid sized variant (Dyna????) again with the rubber mount engine.

Agreed. My wife rides 2013 FLS and it is a fun and quick bike with great brakes and great handling. The 103 "B" engine is smooth at idle and down low but starts to buzz elsewhere. I much prefer the rubber-mounted 103HO engine in my 2014 FLHXS. Besides being smoother everywhere but idle it makes a lot more TQ in low/mid area. Very easy to break the back tire loose with the 103HO with exhaust, intake, and tuner with good map.

Both are great bikes but the bagger is for me.

That is by far my favorite color scheme on this year's RKS. Nice.

Congrats. The RKS is criminally underrated IMO, but I am admittedly biased.

I've never ridden a touring bike and excited to experience it one day.

As I get older I find gettin a bit uncomfortable on both the 2005 / 2021 Softail's after as early as an hour.

Throttle hand goes numb, back aches etc
🤣

I've wondered if something like a Road King would make a longer ride more comfortable 🙌

In any event OP
Congratulations 👍💪🙂

The first few times I sat on a Road King, I said "no way" because you sit up so high on it. The first time I RODE one, though, I knew I had to have one.
