Looking to upgrade my SGS fairing speakers. I hear Rockfords are one of the better. Do I really need an amp? What say you be the best value, not necessarily the cheapest. I don't mind spending money

I got tired of the loud mufflers so I got a set of slash down Jackpots from fuelmoto. Just a little louder. So I wan't to hear the stereo above 60 mph

I had a set of Skar 6.5’s in my street glide with the 1:1 replacement Aquatic head unit for the pre Rushmore bikes. I was happy with that setup. Speakers we’re about $120.

I have been tempted to get louder quiter exhaust, but I love that I can hear it on interstate, and OL likes it too. I know it makes me a wuss. I got other bikes with louder exhaust.
I really like the stereo on this bike. Should have upgraded my 2007 years ago. But I get in stall pattern trying to figure what to buy.

Are you asking about speakers or exhaust? Hard to tell.
maybe post this in the audio section but you can’t go wrong with a set of mmats and stinger spx amp. Great products and budget friendly.

I had a Rockford system installed in my bike at Sturgis a few years ago. At first I was happy with it, but that didn't last long. I ended up selling it all, and going with way better stuff. Have a look at this, I have it and it's so crisp and clear at freeway speeds others get to hear what I listen to also. 🤣Originally Posted by Magnut1

I'm not an audio expert but I do know enough to say that just replacing the speakers will give you what you are looking for ... Adding an amp will help

Tracy, there's untold amounts of knowledge in the Audio sub-forum and you'll get more insight over there. Very active sub-forum. You may even ask the mods to move this thread over there. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/audio-systems-153/
My experience, you will need an amp. I installed my new speakers before my amp and stereo arrived and it was crap. Speakers sounded better, but not louder. Once the amp was added WOW. My equipment is listed in my sig.
You will need to buy 2 ohm speakers (I believe your stereo and all stock stereos are set for 2 ohm speakers) if you only wish to upgrade speakers. However, I believe the stock stereo only outputs 25W RMS, so that sucks. It'll never sound like you want it to with that amount of power. Then you have the issue of stock EQ, etc.
