I am a fan of Yuasa batteries.....

FWIW..... I am totally aware this is anecdotal, but thought I'd share this pic.

The battery in this pic was run for 5 years in my 2016 Ultra Classic with a 124" S&S crate engine, by FuelMoto, at 135HP & 151TQ.

I replaced it in June of 2023, even though it was still easily starting my bike.

I changed it because I was about to leave on an 8 day trip, that was going to include 4 days days of 100°+ temps running through the desert, and well, it was already 5 years old..

I just went out to my shop, where the battery has been sitting on my work bench, since it was removed from the bike in June 2023. I didn't need to trade it for core on the new Yuasa that replaced it. I keep it on my bench in case I need a 12v source for something. I fully charged it about 4 months ago, hasn't been touched since then.

At just shy of 6 years old, and at 67% charge, it has 10 CCA less than a new HD OEM battery.... I'm going to fully charge it again, then let the surface charge bleed off, and test it again tomorrow...

I've been a fan of that YUASA battery for awhile, except last time I HAD to buy a Super Start ETX30LA from O'Reilly's Auto because I left my ignition switch on overnight at an AirBnB in Payson AZ and that was the closest place for me to walk to, lol. 2 years and 40,000 miles later, still going strong, but I will probably go back to the YUASA next time......

The last one was $120 but that was 5 years ago, I just got a price at the local auto supply house that sells Deka batteries, $164 plus tax and that was with a 20% Veterans discount. And that was the OEM 405 CCA, the Yuasa with 500 CCA for about $20 more seems like a much better deal.

Looks like no place local has the Yuasa battery, I see Amazon has them but I'm a little wary of Amazon and fresh batteries. I see a place called Parts Giant stocks them with free shipping, has anyone used them? Or anyplace else for that matter? TIA...

The Yuasa also has the finger slots on the top for lowering or lifting the battery from your scooter. Those lifting straps seem to wear and break from vibration of the battery sitting on them.

Follow-up to post #11.....

I put a smart charger on my 6 yr old Yuasa battery last night after the pic in post #11.

I left it on all night, and in the morning the charger was showing the green fully charged light. I disconnected the battery from the charger at 0600.

After a morning of chores and appointments, I just now, at 1330 hrs, which is 7.5 hrs after removing the charger from the battery, tested it again. Here are the results:

It went to a full charge of 12.8, and held that charge for 7.5 hours. When tested, it shows only 4 CCA less than a brand new HD OEM battery...

Not too shabby for a battery used in a 124" engine in the hot southwest for 5 years, and then just left on a bench for another year..
