IS that important in this big heavy bikes???

I have had good luck with factory batteries, so I just buy them. They work good in lawn mowers, when they are done in bikes too.

Thanks everyone for all the tips, although I've always been a Deka customer I'll probably go with the Yuasa, I want those extra cold cranking amps. And the price is reasonable, I'll give Parts Giant a call next week and if all goes well I'll order from them.

A side question here on the mail order batteries..... do they have a "core charge" like they do if you bought from a brick and mortar?
I would guess you wouldn't send your old battery back, so do you would drop it off at a battery store?

I've always bought at a store like NAPA or Interstate, where they expect the old battery, what abuout the H-D dealership, do they have a core charge and want the battery?

I was looking on the Parts Giant site where the Yuasa is available and it says returning the battery is not required.

I got an aftermarket battery, more cca and amp hours due to upgraded audio amp and speakers, it lasted 12 months - Just shat itself, wouldn't even crank after a long ride, 3 stops, stereo blasting all the way..lol. Went back to OEM. I think these aftermarket batterys made in Asia are for small bikes and are not built to turn over big bikes like the m8. They have all the numbers, but are weak IMO. I'll never buy one of these batteries again.

I've just had good luck with Harley, I understand some people may not have a dealer near them. As making them for Asian bikes, I think they are just cheap batteries. They make lots of big Asian bikes, CCA is a CCA.

If I couldn't get harly I would atleast go with name brand, optimia, deca, yussa. I have no idea if they are good, but heard of them.

That said I have had great luck with Fleet Farm, which is a generic brand, in my other stuff. So I do buy generic, I just don't trust Amazon, Batterymart and Walmart.

What aftermarket battery di you buy...?

There are a few that are made here in the USA, and they seem to last pretty well.... I have found the Yuasa to be at the top of that list.

Motobatt. Made in China. They get good reviews, guy at the shop said they were good and didn't have any issues with them. Maybe i got a bad one, but i just think that for these bikes, Harley makes there batteries to last. The original OEM lasted 5 years.
