Those who know what this is probably found out the same way I did, disconnected the battery for some reason and you got a check engine light on the next start up. I knew there would be some changes going from an 08 Road King to a 23 FLHP and the CAN BUS system was one that I dreaded. Some Propeller beanie whiz kid decided there needed to be a malfunction code if the battery was disconnected, as if most of us couldn't figure that out ourselves. So, for those who haven't seen this yet, if the bike looses battery power for any reason, this code will be set and illuminate the CEL. When you check codes, that will probably be the only one stored and it may be cleared with no fear of disregarding anything important. If you DIDN'T do anything to the electrical system, this might be the first indication of something about to give you some trouble.
Unfortunately I don't know when this "feature" was added as I have no knowledge between 2008 and 2023, my best GUESS would be in 2014 but hopefully someone can provide that information so owners of machines built before that time needn't worry about this. Just one more irritation the Nannies have given us. None the less, still love the new machine, lots of improvements compared to 2008, though this isn't one of them. Hope this is a help to those discovering this code after some electrical work.
On my 21 Limited when I bought it I pulled the main fuse to check the battery terminal tightness and then it threw a code but eventually the CEL went out. Looks like they do throw codes when the main fuse pulled.
