Thanks everyone, as I have a '14 I can't use the "send to" option from the phone that the newer bikes have. I use the maps regularly and along with Sirius radio with the Travel Plus option ($6 a month) it's gotten me out of a few jams, especially the Travel Plus with the weather which works pretty well. I've also used it for traffic conditions and that seems to work pretty well too. While I get that Google maps are more current I like controlling everything from the controls on the bike. I do have a Ram Mount on the bars for the phone but I rarely use it. And I get that the maps are 1-2 years old, that seems to be normal for built in GPS units, same with my Jeep. Thank you all again...

Default So, %20 off what!

I was thinking of updating as some roads or highways have altered or expanded over the years. Even though the direction deviates, the signal does not and I have just followed a way that again picks up the old map route connection.
I would prefer to make a decision whether to update with seeing the cost upfront, not having to go on their website to download toolbox and other stuff.
I want the EU & UK map. Whether that costs more, I don't know.
No matter your location, how much is the update?

Thanks,
Steve UK

Same here. I installed A Klock Werks iOmounts Phone Mount on all the bikes and while it is a great mount I have only used mine one or two times. In my opinion the integrated HD NAV is much better than Apple's NAV. I like the way HD NAV shows which lanes are the ones you should (or should not) be in as you follow the route.

I have my Samsung mounted on a Ram Mount with pre-planned routes pre set up in Google Maps with the maps of that area already downloaded as well. Using my bluetooth ear buds, this method allows my to listen to my Spotify music, look at the Google Map, listen to turn-by-turn from Google Map, use the "Hey Google" function for locating gas stations near me, all while taking trips all around the lower 48 a few times. I like my set up till something easier/better comes along........
I have many friends that use their phones like you do. It's fun to watch their phones shut off, sometime never to return, when in the sun for 4-5 hours and they over heat. My phone is on a charge cord in the glovebox. My Garmin GPS is designed to be in the sun all day.

Good point as that has happened to my wife in the past.

Just an observation...

Interesting that so many riders can't or won't spend $150 on a map update but will spend $150 on handlebar grips, $50 for a dipstick, $50 for a few knurled chrome fasteners, etc.

Yup, it has gotten hot a few times, but it just goes into "Night" mode where the background is dark and the roads are light. Kind of a pain in the butt, but it doesn't go full dark....... UNLESS........ I leave it on the bike, in the direct sun, while I'm sitting in the shade at a roadside rest stop or something and forget it's out there getting a tan. Did that like twice and learned me a lesson right there!

I spent the money on the update, and it's still a POS. Just an observation.
