You've COMPLETELY misunderstood! We're not talking about AA and Waze on a phone screen, we're talking about it on the GTS display! And unlike your built in maps, it gives real time updates on traffic, holdups, accidents, etc., etc. Light years ahead of the built in navigation..

i am quite happy with the functionality of the Boombox GPS system, notwithstanding it not having real time data on holdups etc.

I know this doesn't answer your question but here's my .02...just updated (2 months ago) the maps for the second time on the Boom, cost me $120, the price of a good dinner for me and the Mrs. The company said the update was 2025, when I installed it the maps were dated 2023, OK. Been to New Hampshire and North Carolina on road trips since the install, maps were pretty much spot on right down to the POI's and even the dirt roads. I used Ride Planner and it worked fine, a couple of little miscues but nothing I couldn't handle. The big thing for me is planning a ride, dropping waypoints and being able to follow that exact route, you can't do that with Google Maps. I've tried several times (I have a phone mount on the bars) and Google Map's will not follow the route I planned. Both my cars have GM's but I prefer to use the built in navi in both...just my opinion, YMMV!

I've have planned 7 different cross country trips, been to all 48 lower states, plus a ton of extra local trips, over the last 5 years. Every one of them was pre-plotted on Google Maps before I pulled out of the driveway. The last one, this summer, was 69 days long and 14,430 miles long. Every day was plotted out in May before we left in June and I would maybe fine tune it the night before we rode it to possible add another HD Dealership to the route to get another poker chip. (I have well over 300+ of them to date.) The only restriction is that I'm limited to only 10 waypoints per trip, and that is plenty for the trips I've plotted. On one specific trip, I had to do 10 waypoints on one map, then like 3 more one another one to do the whole day. I also "Download" the maps so if I get out in the boonies, I can still follow the map with no cell service. The old outdated maps, and MANY MANY incorrect POI points, are what make HD's Map suck........ Not worth the few updates I've paid for over the years. No more though......

If you are a HOG Chapter member and doing group rides, it is a lot easier to take a flash drive with the route on it and get it loaded on all the bikes with infotainment systems. Nowadays using double ended flashdrives to include the V2 bikes.

Thank you, I'll give it another try. I probably wouldn't use it on the bike as I'd have to use the phone for navi and looking at that little screen is a PIA plus as I mentioned I like the Boom system. I have tried it on my Jeep when I want to take a specific route and IIRC the 10 waypoint thing was a pain, I couldn't put enough WP's in to follow the exact route and it kinda did its own thing between waypoints. I never really thought about splitting the ride into multiple 10-waypoing routes, I'll give that a shot. Thanks...

I don't recall where I came accross this Google Maps 'hack' but if you want to have a bunch more waypoints, try this link:

The gist is you can have 20+ points. The map attached is multiple trips between Phoenix and Tucson. It works, and is some long url, but try it if you like. I've not kicked it over to my phone or anything, but if like me, the winter of planning begins soon, it's worth a look.

Just delete the '_ and the ' at the end.

'_https://www.google.nl/maps/dir/Phoenix,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/Tucson,+Arizona,+USA/@33.8416919,-110.2649921,7z/data=!4m151!4m150!1m5!1m1!1s0x872b12ed50a179cb:0x8 c69c7f8354a1bac!2m2!1d-112.0725488!2d33.4482948!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787!1m5!1m1!1s0x86d665410b2ce d2b:0x73c32d384d16c715!2m2!1d-110.9741769!2d32.2539787?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MD kyNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D'
