Default Front Brake Switch

I've noticed that my front brake light switch doesn't close (turn lights on) until the lever is actually applying significant pressure to the brakes. On all my previous bikes, the lights would come on within the free play zone. Of course this affects being able to easily cancel the cruise control and the ability to easily flash the brake lamps to others.

Watching the switch with a flashlight I see that the lights don't come on until the switch is fully extended and the lever is off the switch. Once the lever all but touches and moves the end of the switch, the lights go out.

Just wondering if all of these bikes are set up this way or if I have an out of spec switch? I may go by the dealer today and take a look at a showroom bike and see how it operates. Has anyone else noticed this?

I started a topic on same issue. It start after 1000 miles or one bad rain storm. I took it in and they could not find anything wrong. I think switch needs adjustment

They all appear to be the same as soon as I get the time I am going to pull the lever and take off some material off the tab on the lever so that it will activate the switch sooner.

Yes. I went over to the dealer today and looked at a new one on the floor. It worked the same as mine. So, its either remove material from the button or the lever. Probably work the lever over as you have suggested. I suspect the button is hollow. I can probably make a 3/8 drill bit fix the problem.
